Q.  What is Baptist Retirement Homes?
A.  Baptist Retirement Homes of North Carolina, Incorporated is one of the state's most respected providers of residential and health care living options for Older Adults.
Q.  What medical services do you provide?
A.  The Western North Carolina Baptist Home offers the best comprehensive and continuous health care possible, beginning with the assisted living level of care and continuing through skilled nursing to ensure that residents recieve the care they need when they need it. This program includes emergency services, prescription drug service and therapy services.

Physician services are available on-site at scheduled hours for medical appointments.

Q.  What happens if I require hospitalization?
A.  The Western North Carolina Baptist Home has a business relationship with Mission Memorial Hospital.
Q.  What health and wellness programs does The Western North Carolina Baptist Home offer?
A.  The Western North Carolina Baptist Home provides residents the level of fitness activity appropriate to their level of care. Solarium activities include daily low-impact exercise, walking experiences, etc.
Q.  How do I apply for residency at The Western North Carolina Baptist Home?
A.  The Western North Carolina Baptist Home staff strives to keep the application process worry-free. Generally you need to follow the steps listed below:
* Contact The Western North Carolina Baptist Home community to schedule a visit.
* Visit the home and talk to the marketing Director.
* Complete an application and medical data form
Q.  What is the cost of services? Is financial help available for those who cannot pay?
A.  Financial assitance for prospective residents at the Western North Carolina Baptist Home is available for qualified applicants to the Rickman Nursing Care Center. (There is no financial assistance for applicants to the assisted living area of the Western North Carolina Baptist Home.) Financial assistance for nursing care residents is provided via a combination of state/federal programs and private charitable funds. Baptist Retirement Homes reserves the right to determine if a prospective resident is qualified for financial assistance.
Q.  Do you offer short term placement?
A.  Yes. Western North Carolina Baptist Home offers a Respite contract for those needing short term placement for Assisted Living or nursing care. If you are going out of town, need a break, or unsure about long term placement; respite care is a good option. Contact our marketing/admissions coordinator about our short term respite program.
Q.  What therapy services are available?
A.  Western North Carolina Baptist Homes offers Physical, Occupational and Speech therapy service to all residents.
Q.  Tell me more about specialized programs available for older adults with Alzheimers disease or other dementia related disorders.
A.  Western North Carolina Baptist Home offers individualized care for older adults with dementia related disorders.

In the Assisted Living area residents may qualify for the Fowler Memory Enhanced Residence. This unit which is a seperate part of the community offers a safe environment for enjoying time outside as well as an interactive and stimulating environment inside.
You can take comfort in knowing that residents are monitored closely with a resident to staff ratio of 1-8. Roomy hallways, a home-like decor and family style dining compliment this unique alternative to staying at home.

In the Rickman Nursing Center residents may qualify to enroll in the Creative Arts Enrichment Program. This program is overseen by a Licensed Recreational Therapist and tailored to each resident's individual needs. Goals are identified and monitored carefully, keeping you up to date of progress that is made. Mind stimulating activities, exercise and small group participation allow this to be a beneficial program for many that participate.
